Tres Fort!
Belgium is unique in the European beer world.
Where Britain, Bavaria, and Bohemia developed interests in lighter, easy-drinking beers (an interest that spread to Italy and the Balkans), Belgium created a history of strong, complex ales. There’s also the Belgian yeasts, which — along with having a higher alcohol tolerance than other beer yeasts — deliver spicy phenols and fruity esters that give their beers that “Belgian” taste.
This Thursday, we look at some Belgian Strong Pale Ales.
