Wednesday Tasting: Wines to Go with Gouda

  • Market Street Wine 311 East Market Street Charlottesville United States (map)

The Gouda Stuff

Gouda cheese is named after the city of Gouda in South Holland, in the Netherlands. A semi-hard, rich cheese, usually made from cow’s milk, its modern form dates back at least as far as the 17th Century, though its ancestor cheeses stretch back further. It became popular all throughout Europe, and Dutch immigrants brought it to this continent. Today, it’s one of the most popular cheeses in the world.

So what wines should you pair with your next gouda cheese plate? Well, we have some suggestions. Please join us for this free, walk-up tasting of wines to pair with Gouda.
