The Gouda Stuff
Gouda cheese is named after the city of Gouda in South Holland, in the Netherlands. A semi-hard, rich cheese, usually made from cow’s milk, its modern form dates back at least as far as the 17th Century, though its ancestor cheeses stretch back further. It became popular all throughout Europe, and Dutch immigrants brought it to this continent. Today, it’s one of the most popular cheeses in the world.
