Beer of the Week! 03/15/22
Eastern Divide Inniskilling Irish Red Ale
Regularly $15.99 / Now on Sale for $14.96
Irish Red Ale Style Ale
Eastern Divide Brewing Company head brewer Brandon Robeson has turned out a rare treat for an American brewer — a really decent Irish Red.
Don’t get us wrong, Americans can make tasty red ales. (We’ve had quite a few.) It’s just that American craft brewing has traditionally favored and pursued a more vibrant hop profile. So, when faced with malt-forward European styles, we’ll lean on the hops a little bit. Those beers are often very tasty, but they’re a different take on the styles that inspired them.
In contrast, the Inniskilling Irish Red Ale takes roasted Irish malts and carefully applies Centennial hops, allowing the malt flavor to come through. It’s a deliciously mild ale, perfect for these last cool nights as the spring starts to settle in.

Antietam Ice Age Winter Lager
Regularly $12.99 / Now on Sale for $11.96
Amber Lager
Back in the late 90s, Bill Skomski, Sr. was running his new restaurant, Benny’s Pub in Hagerstown, MD — just south of the Pennsylvania border, right next to Antietam Battlefield. Just a couple of years old, Benny’s was working out, but Skomski had his eye on a future goal. He wanted to run a craft brewery out of his restaurant. In 2012/2013, Skomski achieved that goal when he opened Antietam Brewery.
“What is it that makes a ‘winter lager’?” we thought when we first saw the Ice Age. Then we tasted it and said, “Oh, that! That’s a winter lager.” The Ice Age is a deep amber, easily the color of a bock, and, like bocks, it is full-bodied malty experience. However, this is no sweet lager. Its toffee notes are evenly balanced by hops. The whole thing is so rich, you could swear you’re drinking an ale.
Look … we know it’s called the “Ice Age,” and it’s a “winter lager,” but it’s so tasty, there’s no reason not to drink it well into the spring.
